Aged Care

As an independent person, it is a big step to consider taking on assistance around the home but be encouraged because getting help around the home is a wonderful long-term investment in your health and well-being. Whether you’re living in your own home or in an over 55 community it’s our intention to help you stay there. We offer many different types of assistance as detailed below so please find out how we can assist and then call our toll free number for professional advice and caring concern.

The New Aged Care Standards

Organisations providing Commonwealth subsidised aged care services are required to comply with the Aged Care Quality Standards (Quality Standards). Organisations will be assessed and must be able to provide evidence of their compliance with and performance against the Quality Standards from 1 July 2019.

The Quality Standards focus on outcomes for consumers and reflect the level of care and services the community can expect from organisations that provide Commonwealth subsidised aged care services.

Compliance with the Quality Standards is mandatory from the date of commencement. Organisations are required to demonstrate performance on an ongoing basis to meet Australian Government requirements. The Australian Government may take action when providers do not comply. This includes under aged care legislation or through the funding agreement with the organisation. Please go to https://www.agedcarequality.gov.au/standards/guidance-introduction to read more.

Personal Care

This is a simple and common situation that we address at Reliable Hands. The benefits are many to those we help and you will be able to choose the carer you feel most comfortable with. It will be the same carer every time and you provide the terms and details – be it day, time of day and type of assistance. Here are some examples of personal care:

  •  Grooming
  • Attending hair appointments
  • Attending nail appointments
  • Showering
  • Toileting

Personal hygiene is fundamental and having to wait for family and friends to come by and help can be both embarrassing and demeaning for the recipient. We take great pride in upholding the dignity of our clients by taking time to win trust, taking time to ensure that they understand exactly what is going on and by paying respect to their desires.

Health Management

We’re there to help you take your medications at the right time and while we’re there we’ll get a few things done around the house for you. Supporting our carers are a team of registered nurses with decades of combined aged care experience who complete the assessments, write the care plans, oversee the care provided and step in where a registered nurse is required.

  • Assist with medication
  • Attend medical appointments
  • Support to attend medical appointments
  • Coordinate allied health services
  • Meal planning
  • Meal preparation (either alone or together)
  • Pain management
  • Wound management
  • Respite Care

Reliable Hands is able to provide respite care in the comfort and familiarity of the client’s own home. In home respite can be provided for a few hours or for an extended period including 24 hour care and overnight care. In home respite can enable a carer to have a break, attend appointments, or rest and recuperate after an illness or injury.
